A great day out at St Marys yesterday, the best away game I've seen us play for quite some time. It was our most clear cut win of the season. The fans were in great voice and its a great start to the christmas.

After a slow start we were impressive and dominated the 2nd half, we were miles better than Southampton on the day.

I thought Morgan and in particular Anderson were our best players. Brendan Moloney looked shaky at the start and Southampton seemed to be targeting him as all of their attacks were coming down that side. He dived in a couple of times when there was no need to. However to his credit, he did improve and he make a strong run in the build up to Garner's great goal.

Couple of pics I took:

And from me, merry christmas and a happy new year to you all. On yesterdays evidence we looked a much better side than another of our relegation rivals. Its very frustrating thinking of where we are in the table after watching that. If we could just string even another 2/3 wins on the trot I'd start to feel confident we can stay up. Unfortunately with such a young side theres always the inconsistency that comes with it, Thornhill for instance had a bit of a stinker yesterday I felt. You could quite easily see Doncaster getting something from us the next day.

Still, I feel a lot better now than I did a few weeks back.

[QUOTE=Kevin Reidy;4772]A great day out at St Marys yesterday, the best away game I've seen us play for quite some time. It was our most clear cut win of the season. The fans were in great voice and its a great start to the christmas.

I was at the game with a mate of mine who was a Southampton fan. To be honest I thougt both sides were average. Forest were decent going forward but the whole defense still does not install confidence. I thought Moloney was not the only one to have a shakey start but to be fair they improved as the game went on. Southampton started brightly but only playing one up front hurt them. They did not create many chances but if the shot that hit the post had gone in things might have been very different. The first goal seemed to really deflate the crowd and the Southampton players. Garner's goal was class and I thought he played well and looks a real player. Cohen was the other guy I thought showed up well. The away support was good and the players appeared to really enjoy the win. I think we look in better shape to survive than Southampton and with Charlton in free fall our hopes of beating relegation are starting to appear better. I think the squad needs further strenghtening in January though with the back four the priority.
Anyway lets hope that 2009 sees the red

As comfortable a win I've witnessed for a good while. Fair enough Southampton started quite well but once Anderson and Cohen in midfield started to control the game it was all Forest. Let's not forget before Southampton hit the post that we missed an open goal. Thought Thornhill was the culprit but the official site says it was Anderson.
2nd half we never looked like conceding, and played some really decent stuff.

Morgan was a rock in the defence. The other 3 shakey at times and I presume that is whom Calderwood refers to in his post match interview. In all fairness to Moloney, he does get forward well and appears very comfortable doing so, much more so than Lynch on the other side and indeed Chambers when he's at right back. Defensively though needed a man covering him all the time.
Wonder is it worth having a look at Lynch alongside Morgan. He's meant to be a centre half and watching him play looks more like one than a left back.

All in all a good day out. A superb stadium as well, definitely Premiership class.

Season,s Greetings!Great pics kev and it looks like a premiership stadium, like Sunderland. Heartening to hear the result as thought the most we would get here would be a draw. this result sounds like a blast from the past. But I wont get carried away because how many times have we created false dawns in the past? I,ll judge it on the Xmas run and here,s hoping we can reverse a trend against Donny of losing ground after a superb performance.

Happy Christmas to all the Forest fans on this site. It was a pleasure to meet you all during this year. Good pics Kevin, looks like a great stadium, it could be the best stadium in League One next year!
