Think making Cesc captain is a good move but not enough to keep him at Arsenal. He knows he deserves a better team than whats around him at the minute and since the likes of viera and Henry left their has been very little to shout about...
This crap about building a team is just going on to long... Lets face it the powers that be at Arsenal are happy to trod along scraping 4th place in the league each season just for the money for the stadium...
I think the need to be ousted from power and let someone with money in there to SPEND SPEND SPEND... otherwise we're going to be forever the Bridemaids never the bride... (and the ugly fourth one at the end!!!)
Look at Utd Pool and Chelski... they are spending and getting results wer'e not... they all also have a Big ENGLISH defender... Ferdinand, Carragher and Terry... we've got a whinging Willy Gallas...
Hate to admit it but we're doomed unless something drastic happens... very hard to get back into the top 4 once you've been ousted!!!!
Hope Im proved wrong... But hope is not enough!!!!!

I cannot agree with you except on one point, we need a big defender to command the area other than that the Arsenal board of directors came out not too long ago and publicly backed Wenger if he wanted to spend on players.
You have to control your debts, otherwise when things go wrong and your backers pull out, you will end up playing way down there with Leeds utd.
Arsenal at the moment and it was the same last season are standing on the fine line between success and failure, throwing money at it hoping to buy success will not guarantee it either!
Do you really want the premiership to go into, the who spends the most wins!!
It will drive up the price player’s demand in wages plus the price we pay for tickets and the teams without the backers will go bankrupt trying to compete. It is a self-destruct button!!!
If Cesc leaves fair enough, he is a great player but he is not Arsenal FC. Players come and go and that’s all part of the game, of course, we want him to stay but I think your not giving him enough credit in the club loyalty stakes.
And finally, I don't know what team you have been watching since Vieira and Henry left, but the one I have been watching gave me plenty to shout about but then again I am a long haul supporter who has kept the faith for many years now.
No offence to you personally but I just cannot agree with your outlook.

What a stupid statement ! we need one big central defender we dont need to be spending millions like Chelsea or need a big overseas invester not now the way things have gone, look at Liverpool they wont be getting their new stadium or Chelsea, what happens when these investers decide to pull out ! Arsenal are not doomed I have seen worse times for Arsenal as I have been following Arsenal since 1970 so I should know. Remember Keep The Faith ! stop moaning and get behind the Arsenal ! COME YOU GUNNERS !!

Here, Here.
Certain members have been too negative about Arsenals present/future situation, we all have an idea of what we would do as managers or where we need more strenght in certain areas & I do not have any issue with that but that is not what is being portrayed through some of the posts.
It is the ""we are Doomed"" or We are Never going to be top again and all the players are going to leave etc etc etc that is getting up peoples goats.
As my father who has been an Arsenal fan all his life told me, I was born an Arsenal Fan and like the previous poster, I have a lot of years under my belt as a fan and went through primary school in the 70's with mostly Liverpool fans giving me stick at every turn and you think its hard to be an Arsenal Fan now!!
At least now, we have Trophies under our belts and play amazing football to throw back at the knockers!
We need to focus now on supporting our team, wear you colours as much as you can before, during and after match days, lets show, that we are behind our team and be patient, we have enough people from the media etc knocking us!!
I think the Motto of most posts so far is Keep The Faith..
Come on The Arsenal!!!!:3D Smiles (24):
Cheers folks

Sorry if I come across a bit Grim Reaperish... But I too have been supporting Arsenal since I was in primary school as all my brothers before me and it was a nightmare all those liverpool supporters giving us stick with all they were winning...
What Im trying to say here is....
Arsenal ARE a great team... I love them to bits but we have to be aiming high...
I think wenger is a fantastic Manager but of late things have gone a bit sideways...
Some of the players i think just arent up to the job... i mentioned in another post that if Sylvestre isnt good enough for Utd why is he good enough for us???
We are and have been for quite a while in need of a good big central defender... we need someone in midfield to support Cesc or he'll burn out mid way through the season... our forwards arent hitting the mark either... Bendtner RVP Ade... between them 21 goals for the season only 11 in the Legue... Sure our old friend Anelka has 12 in the league on his own...
I understand that we need to be prudent with our spending and i wouldnt expect Mr Wenger to be going out blasting 40 50 60 million on players but we need to do something and quick... We need the Champs league to stay afloat but at the minute we're treading water - we were lucky last weekend that the pthers dropped points to but they all also gained a point!!!
Always have been always will be a true GOONER... Not looking to fall out with any one in here just like to put across my point...
Will agree DOOMED was too harsh a word to use... Welcome all comments and critics...Cheers

I can see where everybody is coming from, and kinda stand in the middle. I think we its time for a fresh approach from the top down. The board are stale, and the only action in recent times was ousting DD. I know they had their reasons to protect their shares but Dein was more Mr. Arsenal than any player ever will be. I agree with Derokid, they are content with 4th. Saying that i don't believe in a spend spend spend attitude, but i do believe that letting flamini go over wage structure just showed how inept they really are. After selling Diarra for 2m profit. We go from having 2 quaility DMs to nothing. Whether AW told Diarra to be patient is another thing and another error of AW.
As regards arsenal; having tougher days in the past, and not being a big club until AW...i agree with that but is that also to say that we should throw away all the progess AW and the club has made in the past and be content with what we have won and play out for 4th place with villa etc because we play the nicest football around at times, yet lose to Hull at home, and away to Fulham, Stoke and 3-nil to city? Whatever the era, those are disgraceful results in 14 games and can't be ignored. Plus the worst of the lot...4-4.
Its not AW, or the money but the board.....so as i said hopefully this guy from the MLS will sort it out. Whats the point in us all getting upset and frustated not winning anything when the bloody hierarcy only has one aim.
