Arsenal had in comparison to most clubs, a successful spell under
the management on Terry Neil, winning the FA Cup in 1979, and finishing
runners up in the competition in both 1978 and 1980. Arsenal also lost
the Cup Winners Cup final in 1980 in a penalty shoot out. However, the
Arsenal fans wanted more based on the double success in 1971, and Neil
could not deliver. He was sacked in 1983, and did not continue his football
management career.
