Over the years Arsenal has had a long link with Irish Players. The reason
I decided to start supporting them was the 3 most famous, Brady, O'Leary
and Stapleton.
During those days Liverpool where the big team and winning everything but
why should I follow them? Their only Irish player was Steve Highway. Football
was not on tv as much and your only chance of watching the games was on
match of the day on a saturday night or the big match on a sunday afternoon.
I was allowed to stay up late on a saturday night, straight after starsky
and hutch, to watch motd in the hope they would show Arsenal.
I have never seen anyone with a better left foot than Brady and he could
pick out a player blindfold. Meeting him in Dublin brought me back. What
can you say when you meet your heroes me all I said was 'I use to watch
you on tv'.
Mind you he was not the only Arsenal player the list I have is below including
both Northern Ireland players and Republic of Ireland player
I also included some of the Irish women who play for Arsenal and no Eddie
Mc Goldrick is not one
